Address Pillar vs. Olympic Torch

The frontyard is also finished. Tyler and Tony cut the caps for the flower beds and set them in place. My dad put the finishing touches on the address pillar by hooking up the electrical. I think our excitement for the first lighting of the address pillar was equivalent to the world's excitement for the lighting of the Olympic Torch! :)

Another Landscaping Weekend

This weekend we had tons of help finishing up the front and backyard. Thanks to my parents, Adam's parent, Tyler and Tony we were able to finish by Saturday afternoon. The pictures below show the four different areas in the backyard where Adam removed the sod.

About a month later, we picked out perennial plants and shrubs and planted them around the yard. This weekend Adam and his dad hauled mulch and spread it around each section. Now we have a border of landscaping surrounding the back and side lot lines.

Next spring we are going to plant lilac bushes and more grasses along the back of this bed.

We hope to plant vegetables in each of these boxes next spring .

The back and frontyard are complete with landscaping. It was a long process, but well worth it. Now we just have to wait for everything to grow and fill in the spaces. More pictures of the frontyard to come!

First Pair of Shoes

Our baby received his/her first pair of shoes thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Moe! They are the most adorable shoes on earth from none other than the "Happies Place on Earth". (Notice the Mickey Mouse shaped holes.) Probably about this time next year the baby will fit into them. :) I can't wait!

Before and After

This is what the front of the house looked like prior to the start of our project. No, those are not plants in the flower beds, they are weeds. :)

DAY 1
We started our landscaping project on Saturday morning and ran into our first problem before 10:00 a.m. We discovered a nest of 6 baby bunnies in one of our flower beds. We took them to the Wilderlife Sanctuary where they will be raised. We were told they were only eight days old.

We finished our project at about 5:30 and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Beckett's house. On day one, Adam and I (mostly Adam) shoveled and dumped 4 yards of black dirt into the two flower beds. Adam also dug out around the address pillar and got it ready to go so electricity can be ran to it in the future.

DAY 2
Today we planted all of the plants in the flower beds and also along the address pillar. The final step will be to put on the caps around the flower beds and fill everything in with mulch. That is for another weekend though.

All in all, it was a very productive weekend. The next big project is to work on the backyard.
